Get your Thursday On – Remote Control Bananas

Edith Abeyta and Nicholas Klemek Bananas @ 2nd Floor Gallery.  Recent Post-Post-Apocalypse collaborators Edith Abeyta and Nicholas Klemek have joined forces to celebrate and explore that most delicious of fruits, the banana (I just ate one, and damn, it was good). This show has two openings, one during this Thursday’s 1st Thursday Artwalk [...]

Art Buyer Beware Updated

Remember Clint Arthur? Well, the disappointed Murakami swag/art buyer has had his suit against MOCA tossed by a Los Angeles Superior Court judge, on the grounds that he had already refused a refund for the $2,655 in prints/posters he bought at the MOCA museum store.  Arthur plans to appeal, as he feels that his [...]

Your Moment of Apocalypse – What do to when God is dead edition

aki ba by gariisenab

Thank you Lisa Katayama of Tokyomango for taking my mind off of Swine Flu (apparently I bet my artistic notoriety on the wrong strain), with a sign of what I like to refer to as the “good apocalypse”, where the world becomes vastly more interesting before the walls come [...]

Disappointed with your ©Murakami prints? Sue

RIP Eartha Kitt

Forrest J Ackerman, the demigod of sci-fi fandom, has ascended to another level of trans-galactic exploration, after 92 years on Starship Earth.  Those of us in Los Angeles know Ackerman best through tours of his amazing home, the Ackermansion, where he would guide the public on tours of the world’s largest collection of sci-fi [...]

The Shepard Fairey/God Connection

So I was walking by the television and I saw the tube-bound version of the commercial that follows the talking about God’s Love from Interstate Batteries and I notice that in the “gritty street scene”, prior to the expanding hearstream of God’s Love, there’s this sort of out of place OBEY sticker to [...]

Forming – Work Arriving

This is the show I’m hanging right now at the Center, so I’m cross-posting this from the Center’s blog.

So work is arriving for Forming, and the show is taking shape.  When I started putting together Forming, it was a loose gathering of sculptors whom I think are really cooking right now, but [...]
