Man, I’ve been busy, so I’ll keep this short. And the sword part of Ragnarok Supply is pretty, pretty boring to look at right now. Above, that’s the sword after being removed from the painting contraption and primered. Here it’s basically in a pale blue candy shell, both visually and to the touch. [...] So we went whole hog the other day, har, har. That above is a Hole Hawg, which we used to auger a 18″ or so deep hole in the base of the sword’s grip. It’s designed to be compact so you can work inside walls, between studs to run electrical conduit or plumbing. [...] So we finished shaping the blade yesterday, catching any small derivations and/or errors in the shape. We took about a quarter inch off the tip and re-angled on edge of the point to make it more perfectly match the other. That’s me above doing a final bit of shaping on the blade. We’re [...] After the clamps came off, it was time for rough shaping. This consists of three steps, rough cutting and notching with electric chainsaw, knocking out the remaining positive notches with a hammer and then working the surface with a hammer and chisel to take down what you can of the excess. Above [...] Right now I’m working on a piece that I’ll be installing at El Camino College Art Gallery for the show Melting Point, which opens just before Thanksgiving (opening reception will be on December 1, though). The installation, Ragnarok Supply, is a sort of “seas rising apocalypse boutique with swords for frost giants fighting [...] Just took the keys, but it needs a paint job and a sponge bath. It’s kind of like an old timey detective’s office, and it has a crazy amount of windows and lights. Oh, and it came with an awesome black globe. I’m at The Loft in San Pedro now, so I’ll probably [...] Clint Arthur bought $12,000 worth of repurposed handbag material sold as prints from the ©Murakami boutique and $2,655 worth of prints from the gift show and is pissed off that the prints from the boutique (Louis Vuitton material stretched over stretchers) were just made from leftover handbag material. Not that I thought that the [...] I mentioned this briefly in my Do The Weekend, but I wanted to give the thorough version of the what’s up for the event. Post-Post-Apocalypse: Civilization Post-Post-Apocalypse, an exhibition in three parts, will be closing on Saturday, January 17, with a final event, Civilization. Edith and I have built a house for ourselves [...] I’m kind of busy with Post-Post-Apocalypse this weekend, so that’s a lot of me on this list.
