Things have been too quiet on the Murakami front lately. The above video, Akihibara Majokko Princess, somehow fills the empty space between his colossal (and totally premature) MOCA retrospective and whatever will come next from the knockoff handbag inspirer and lord of Japanese pop. In the video, commissioned by Murakami and directed by Terminator Salvation (mis)director McG, Kirsten Dunst explodes the craniums of lonely nerds and laptop potatoes by singing a cover of The Vapors’ Turning Japanese while wandering around Akihibara, accompanied by what might best be described as a series of “shallowly stereotypical Japanese things”. The video was part of the exhibition Pop Life at the Tate Modern last fall. via BoingBoing.

It’s horrible. Kirsten Dunst has nice legs I guess. Her singing is horrible. Here’s another link to it:

What do you think of this recent painting?:

Oh, the whole thing is horrible and slackery. That’s kind of the genius of it, although not the genius of the idea or the artists involved. It is better than Terminator Salvation, though, so at least McG’s getting some work…
Its so dumb…IT’S BRILLIANT!
Bingo!
