Odeng, aka Oden in Japan, could consist of a variety of fish, soy and vegetable products in a hot broth. Here in Seoul, they sell it on a stick from carts on the street, accompanied by a little dixie cup of broth. Perfect for strolling around in winter. You place your order for meat, vegetable or seafood dumplings, everything else is self service and the Chinese family that runs the place shouts at each other vigorously in the background, which I always consider to be [...] So busy yesterday, and so tired. So a tiny teacup of a post, while I listen to the rain outside in the darkness. Yesterday I spent part of my day at Gallery Dam where So Jung has her solo show at the moment, meeting folks and watching Sojung get filmed by a Finnish [...] The above was supposed to be Thai Sliced Beef with Coconut Curry, but was terribly chewy pot roast instead. With nuked frozen veggies. I think the idea with this meal was to make you really, really glad that you were going to Asia where there’s more good food than you can ever imagine. [...] I’m in Seoul as of about 10pm local time last night, after one of the lousiest flights in memory, and I’m one of those people who loves flying on airplanes. But I’m here, in room 3F at Yena House, a small, efficient little place in Insadong, which is home to literally scores and [...] I just want to toss out a huge thank you to all the folks that came out to the Melting Point reception last night.
