I’m glad to see that a community of activists is gathering steam to help LACMA understand how important its existing programs are and to show LACMA that film needs to have a future in the museum’s programs.
First, and easiest, there’s an online petition you can sign. As always, please personalize your signature by saying why film at LACMA is important to you.
Secondly, there’s now a community, Save Film @ LACMA, which is organizing folks to spread the word, sign the petition, and to school the institution. They’re keeping tack of developments, and also have a Facebook group going qith almost 1200 fans at the time I write this. They’ve also published a handy contact list so that you can tell both LACMA’s leadership and the County Board of Supervisors what you think.

Lastly, LACMA has cooked up its own Ning-based forum in response to the community outcry. Let them have it with both barrels, folks. If LACMA is willing to listen, or even simply feels obligated to do so, your voices can have a big impact.
