Cross-posted from the AGCC blog. This is what I’ve been up to – Christine’s show looks just beautiful.
Christine Nguyen has been up at Angels Gate, installing Dark Matter of Fact. Above, that’s her installing part of her wall piece, a large, site-specific installation that will be on display in the same room as the first piece she showed at the Center back in 2001 as part of that year’s On Site at the Gate, and which led to her first solo exhibition at the Center in 2002. While she was installing, she was talking about how clunky the panels that piece was mounted on were, how her dad her make them, and now, seeing how confident and capable Christine is, coupled with the refinement of her photographic technique, I’m just really proud that the Center can continue to support and exhibit her work.
Below is a shot of some of the salt encrusted materials that Christine has been experimenting with. These will be displayed on five shelves in the gallery.
