I don’t know why, but I’m particularly moved by the immediacy of history by the above object. You can almost feel the bodily presence of the people who built it and lived with it. Flickr user and enviable world traveler SebastiĆ Giralt took the shot, which is (typically) way better than the shot available on the Boston Museum of Fine Arts’ website – it’s just brought to life. This was “one of 120 lifesize lions hat lined the Processional Way from the Ishtar Gate to the Temple of Marduk at Babylon.”
