Gorilla Suits & Text is Hard

Post-Post-Apocalypse - Edith Abeta Sewing a Gorilla Costurme

Edith sewing a gorilla suit, made from leftover inflatable dunnage bags and faux-fur, for visitors/participants in the Post-Post-Apocalypse. There is no costume more classic than the gorilla suit, as fans of Where’s Papa? will no doubt agree with me. Note how Edith sews standing up. I thought I was the only person who did that, usually because my setup sucks.

Post-Post-Apocalypse - Edith Abeyta - Slip Cast Rock Flasks

Above – Edith has been making slip casts from molds she made of rocks and making flasks out of them.

Post-Post-Apocalypse - Text Fills Done

Above – Wall text. The hardest part of the whole she-bang. This is just the fills, we’re doing the details/edges today.  I started using a filbert brush, courtesy of Michele, that everyone had told me would do a better job than the angle cut brushes I usually use for everything. And everybody was right, the filbert kicks ass.

Kickoff is tomorrow, 6-9 PM, and my butt is sore from training on my bike. Edith will be making her exodus on foot, walking in place or in circles. I’m going to be mounted on my bike and a resistance trainer. On Friday, I’m gonna be sore.

  • Can gorilla-suit wearers be overseas? These dresses are HOT – I’d wear one fr sure.

  • I’m sure they can. Hit Edith up about one. But I bet you have your own gorilla suit already.

  • The dresses…the flasks…I’ve got chills! It’s spooky, unsettling and funny at the same time. Really wishing I could be there.
