Eat Like a Flintstone!

Marshall and the Giant Rib from Portky's

This beef rib was like the size of my face. It was stupid gigantic. Like, those bronto-ribs tipped over my stone age car. And damn, damn good.

It’s from Porky’s BBQ in San Pedro. Finally Pedro has BBQ worth eating. Their beans are good, damn close in goodness to Goode Company & Oklahoma Joe’s.

I agree that the beans are excellent. They would make a meal in themselves. Pulled pork had great flavor and sauce but was a little dry. Peach cobbler- really disappointing.

  • Have you had the fried chicken yet? It’s really good, as are their biscuits. The greens are delicious, too. Now I have to choose between Slavko’s and Porky’s, although Porky’s doesn’t have gizzards.

    I don’t know about the cobbler – I don’t really eat desserts.

Chicken is on my list but that beef rib looks mighty fine. It might be my next meaty victim. The cobbler was canned fruit and mostly crust; even if I did not have the finely honed appreciation of cobbler that I do, this would not have been good.

I realize this is heresy in Pedro, but I think Slavko’s is just okay. I didn’t have the fried chicken, though.

  • What did you have at Slavko’s if not the fried chicken?

    Roast chicken.
