The graduate asked the President to do it and the President agreed to make one of the men going off to defend our nation happy on his graduation day. The irony here? Had the President turned him down out of respect for the Academy, the left would be slamming him for not even taking a little time to make the graduate happy. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.
